• What Does It Cost?
The particular film chosen and total square footage to be covered will determine installation
costs. Also, factor in additional labor charges for ladders and scaffolding if required.
A specific quote can be given at the time of a physical visit to the jobsite.
• Are Any Chemicals Used?
Only water-based cleaners and mounting solution are used for the film installation. Nothing toxic
will be used inside your home or business.
As far as exterior glass cleaning and polishing- ammonia, alcohol, oxalic acid, and other commercial
grade cleaners are diluted with water to varying ratios for the job at hand.
• Are There Special Care Requirements?
Only common sense such as no sharp objects or abrasive cleaners against the scratch-resistant film
surface. The customer is provided with a care instruction sheet at the completion of the
installation.
• How Long Does It Take?
A standard set of [2] sliding glass doors will take about forty-fifty minutes to complete a window film
installation. This time frame is not considering setup preparation including moving furniture and
other household items safely out of the way.
• Will It Make My Windows Look Like A Mirror?
Only if you choose a high-reflective film. There are a multitude of residential & commercial film
to window applications to suit the customer’s objective. For residential applications, there are
spectrally selective films that have a lighter, more neutral appearance.
On the other end, commercial films are more reflective and/or darker in appearance.
A proper film to glass recommendation is performed on every prospective job, to narrow down the
choice, to achieve the best of both worlds- as far as performance and aesthetics for your particular
glass.
• What If I Already Have Low Emissivity Coated Glass?
The installation of solar/security film on [Low E] glass is an additional layer of shatter-resistant protection, as well as 99% reduction of harmful UV rays which in time, will deteriorate
just about any surface they come in contact with. ( See IWFA for insight. )
Low E glass does not provide these protective features.
• What About Window Films Voiding My Window Warranty?
Architectural window film is considered an aftermarket product, just like other window treatments
such as blinds, shades, etc. Depending on your window manufacturer, those warranties are not for
the life of the window; or if you are not the original owner, chances are these building material
warranties do not transfer to the next owner of the building.
• How Long Will The Film Last?
Today’s advanced materials and nano-technology allow these professional-grade films to have a lifespan of 15-22 years and beyond. Most residential applications have a limited lifetime manufactures warranty. Ultra*Glaze guarantees the installation from peeling, fading, bubbling, delaminating, distorting, or otherwise deteriorating, provided proper care is taken.
